What is Laser Vein Treatment?

Our laser vein treatment uses Cuters’a excel HR laser technology to treat unwanted spider veins. The treatment involves directing a laser beam onto the targeted veins, causing them to heat up and collapse. Your body naturally absorbs the vein, and the blood is rerouted through healthy veins. Our laser treatment features a unique design that penetrates all skin tones allowing for more patients to see improvements from spider veins. Laser treatments are non-invasive and cause little to no downtime. Laser treatment is primarily used on the legs, but can be applied to other spider veins that appear on the face or chest. Laser treatment is less invasive than sclerotherapy making it Tepas Vein Center’s go-to choice for spider vein treatment.

What to Expect During the Procedure

After you have consulted that laser vein treatment is the best procedure to eliminate your unsightly spider veins, you will be asked to refrain from sun tanning (self-tanners, spray tans, beds, and intentional sun exposure) before your appointment. You will also be consulted about certain medications to refrain from as they can increase the risk of bruising. Your provider will go over your medical history and medication list prior to treatment. Before the treatment begins, a medical assistant or provider will have you put on eye protection to keep you safe. You may experience a stinging sensation as the laser energy is applied to your legs. Although no local anesthesia or pain medication is typically required, you may opt to use topical anesthesia before the treatment. Typically your total time in the office for the appointment will be under one hour, with more appointments being around 30 minutes. Appointment times can vary depending on the size of the area being treated.

What to Expect After the Laser Vein Procedure

Bruising, redness, and swelling are common but resolve with time. You can generally resume most normal activities immediately. However, it is recommended that you avoid vigorous activities or strenuous exercise for the 3-5 days after treatment. Pain should be minimal, but if needed OTC pain medicine is recommended. Avoid sun exposure and use sunscreen on the treated areas when you will be exposed to sunlight, even if it is just incidental exposure. Abstain from using hot tubs, saunas, etc. to limit heat exposure. Do not use any lotions or products on the treated areas that will irritate the skin, such as benzoyl peroxide, salicylic acids, astringents, or retinol. Wear compression stockings after your procedure for the length of time recommended by your provider to help with healing and reduce swelling. Follow up with Tepas Vein Center if you have any concerns after the procedure we will schedule a follow-up appointment with the provider to check the healing and monitor your progress. You should see signs of improvement after your first treatment within 2-6 weeks with final results evident after several months. A series of treatments (3 or more) is suggested for optimal results.
